This fan moves more air on low than our previous fan did on high, and does it quieter. The Low and Medium settings on the fan can be timed by holding the "Off" button for 4 seconds or so. The fan will then auto-off after 15 minutes. This doesn't work on the High setting. The "High" button can be pushed for 3-4 seconds and it will go into "Extra-High'" for 10 minutes, and then drop back down to "High."
The lights are 35 watt halogen with a high and low setting. Unfortunately, if on "High" you have to cycle through "Low" to get to "Off" every time. The full 35 watt level isn't overly bright and the halogen bulb that comes with the hood is on the warm color side.
Negatives:
*Mounting: The small screws that go into the mounting bracket did not fit or thread in. I got one side to work by cutting new threads into the mounting bracket holes to get the screws to thread. On the other side, instead of cutting new threads, I just mounted a strip of wood under the cabinet and screwed some large-headed screws into the wood which was much easier and faster.
*Changing bulb: This is nearly impossible, even with rubber grippers. The bulbs are 35-watt GU10 type which don't screw in, but have two prongs that lock in with a Clockwise twist (or untwist CC to remove). This is easier said than done. The bulbs tend to hang even after the short turn. Put a towel on the range top to catch one if it falls out unexpectedly. Putting a new one in is just as problematic-you can get them into the socket but turning them even with some rubber grippers is super difficult. I got some LED GU10 bulbs to test to save some electricity. It took about 10 minutes of pushing and turning to get one out and the LED into place. The 35-watt LEDs worked fine on high, but flickered on low. To get them out, I had to remove the 3 hex screws on the metal baffle separating the vent area from the light fixtures, and push them out from the top. Then it was the same again to get the halogens back in.
4 stars: Ventilation is excellent
Mounting is easy if you just use wood strips and not the metal brackets
Lights could be screw-in LEDs instead of GU10 halogens with the prongs that won't snap into place.

This range hood is great until you have to change a burnt out lightbulb! Impossible to get out without destroying the whole thing! So if you want to replace the whole unit when a lightbulb burns out don™™t buy this!

Just installed today, takes longer than the estimated 10 minutes. The installation instructions in the book and online are very lacking. They need to be more step by step, the average homeowner could struggle installing this as a replacement in older homes or older cabinets. The provided screws to hold up the unit are to small and do not screw into the bracket with out stripping out. Had to use self taping screws and washers to make it stay in place.. the unit itself seems very good, the one down side I have is the two halogen lights get very hot( I will be looking for LED replacements).

Flimsy. Circulation works good. The button controls are wobbly and loose. When you press any one of them, they tend to push inward. This may become a problem as time wears on. Caution will be needed upon aging.

The slate gray color is great for our kitchen. The fan speeds are perfect and the boost really helps. Only downside I have seen is the lights that come with the hood get very hot to the touch. We replaced them with LED bulbs and a whiter light - other than that the hood is great. It was also easy to install (non-ducted)

This range hood is beautiful. It's got two light settings. One is high and one is low which is great. You can kind of use it as a night light. And then there are three settings for the fan. The lights are gorgeous and the fan is very quiet. It did take almost 2 hours to install just because we had to adjust a few things. I would highly recommend this.

While the styling of this line of hood is beautiful, a couple of quirky issues...(1) the lights are located too much toward the end such that they really don't light up the entire stove surface. They also get hot and I plan to switch the halogen to LED lights that we had in our previous hood. (2) while some might use a 3 speed exhaust fan, I find it un-necessary...2 speed would be sufficient.

The light bulb had to be replaced but when I removed it, the housing for the socket ripped apart. It is just a flimsy piece of plastic. Without it, the light bulb dangles from the hood. I have no issue with the operation of the hood but replacing a $2 light bulb required disassembling the entire hood which was no easy feat. Why would GE use different sized screws with different head shapes? I'm not even sure I can find a replacement part. I'm not pleased.

Disappointed. Bought this hood as it was the only option to match my full slate appliance purchase. Fan only pulls from one side since installation and SO loud. We told the tech at the time of installation and he didn't feel it was a problem so don't tell people to make a service call and waste more money. Light bulbs are HOT immediately. Not sure why they chose halogen. And next to impossible to change as other reviews said. After finally getting one changed both didn't work! Husband took it apart and found main wire no longer connected and fixed it. Now they work again. Poor design from wiring to lights to exhaust. Disappointed.

Had to replace the two lights. The fan housing made a scraping noise. I had to adjust the squirrel cage in order for the fan to operate properly for all three speeds. I'm disappointed with the quality of this appliance.

Product is grossly overpriced. Also having to buy a filter that should come with it is ridiculous. Even if you are venting this unit to the out doors it should come with this charcoal filter. GE should also get with the times as the light bulbs in this unit are halogen and should be LED. I had to return an over the stove microwave because it was poorly designed as it needed a half height cabinet over it to support the unit. The microwave unit cost was only like $50.00 more. Again grossly overpriced for this hood!
