We have been looking at replacing our old microwave for a while now. This was on clearance at our local Lowes. We really like this microwave. It has great settings, and easy to cleanup. The capacity is huge, and you can fit a lot in it. The only downside, like I read in other reviews, is that the end of cooking sound is not loud enough.

Needs a louder beeper tone option.

This is our second KitchenAid microwave. Our first one lasted 20 years. However this one we can barely hear the tone/beeper when something is done or when using the timer. Even setting it on the loudest function you can barely hear it. That's a problem because we're both hearing impaired so I can't tell when the microwave is done. The other issue is that there was no real owners manual for how to use the controls, I had to look online for that and I had to look very hard to find anything so I wish it would've come with the unit. Other than that it looks very nice and is easy to use. I really wish the sound could be made much louder to know when food is done or when setting a timer. I did some searching online to see if there was a way to make it louder and there™€™s nothing.

Capacity is adequate for large items, just what we wanted and had previously. The no handle on the front of the microwave gives awesome cleaning capability. My only request is that a better product manual be given with the microwave at installation. The Control panel does most and even more than I expected but the potato and defrost features need more clarification. The heating and ventilation work very well. Wish the flattop light was a bit brighter.

Good MW. Good size, quiet, but built in 2011, was sitting on the shelf for many years at the local big box store. Installation was somewhat easy. Fits in the space. Power is only 1kW, older one was 1.1kW. Some food items need more power.

Looks good in our kitchen. Love that it's feature laden, It did take a few attempts trying to learn to work the setting for a time select of my choice. Would like a brighter light, senior eyes can be finicky sometime, thus I'm wondering if that's an owner option. Outside of that, we're very pleased with the functions and the looks with the range that we also purchased. Excellent size as we use it more for reheating.

I received another email reminding me to please leave a review of this product. So, here's my second response. I will try to summarize what my previous review stated. First, Kitchenaid needs to step up to the plate and make things right for those of us with the problem of no audible beeping sounds when a cycle is complete. Right now nothing has been done. Appliance repair technician replaced the circuit board with no fix. There is no fix! Kitchenaid, if you want to be a reputable appliance manufacturer, then act like one and fix this issue for all of us who are having this problem. There are so many of us with this issue that you just simply cannot ignore the problem. As I recall after reading the other reviews, I don't think you have responded to a single one of them with interest in solving the problem. Secondly, make improvements in the cook surface lighting. For over a decade now, nothing has been done to include a light that is actually bright enough to see what you're cooking. If "design" and "innovation" ratings below are important to you, then show it. And lastly, all of the reviews say that the reviewer was incentivized to make the review, including the first review I did. I cannot speak for all of the others, but there was no incentive whatsoever given to me to leave these reviews. Now, I guess we will see if Kitchenaid will do the right thing to show if they truly care about their customers and the quality of their products. I've got faith in you, Kitchenaid. Come on, make things right.

Somewhat disappointed...

First, I hope that someone from Kitchenaid will actually read this because I haven't found a way via your website to call and make suggestions for improvement. And secondly, hopefully this review will get posted. We had to replace our KMHS120KPS due to a circuit board problem, and the part was discontinued. So, we purchased this new model. Our old one was 10 years old. I was hoping that some improvements could be made over the 10-year time, but evidently not. The light for the cooktop surface is still extremely disappointing; it is now LED and at its highest setting it works well as a nightlight. This was really the only complaint I had with the old one. We have now had a service technician to the house twice, for another issue, with the appliance being just 1 week old from purchase, and the issue could not be resolved. No matter what the sound level is set to for the beeping when a cook cycle is finished, you absolutely cannot hear it. The technician showed me the speaker, and his comments were that on the models that work correctly, the speaker is twice or more the size of what is in this model. And I looked, and countless people online have commented about this problem. Yet, Kitchenaid does not seem to consider it something worth fixing. It looks like someone would have caught this in quality control. Other than those 2 items, it performs well. We would really like to see an improvement in the cook surface lighting, and a new circuit board with a speaker on it that can be heard. I hope that Kitchenaid will follow-up on this review.

Microwave

I bought this microwave a month ago and have already had to call a repairman. The sound for the alert is non existent. Needs to have the control panel replaced. This microwave was no cheap and I would expect everything to work correctly.

Uneven cooking

The only thing I have a problem with is the microwave seems to cook uneven, on one side of what I'm cooking cooks more than the other side. Other than that it works great, I really like the features it has.

Nice Microwave with only one flaw

I like this Kitchenaid microwave. Its quiet, the fan is great, it cleans up inside very well. However, this is not finger print resistant. The finished beep isn't loud enough though and doesn't do a reminder incase you get sidetracked. All in all, it's a great choice.

Bad Microwave Design

The story is long, but I will do my best to give you the highlights. I am a long-term KA customer. I have two homes, and both are now KA. The current situation: In November, I used the microwave's convection setting for Thanksgiving, and it worked fine. In early Dec, I opened the door, and it almost fell off in my hand. I determined that the plastic hinge was in pieces. We contacted a KA repair company, which responded that a new door would be required and would cost $1,100, and the unit was out of warranty. At this point, a new MV was the better option, so we reviewed KA and selected the Model KMMF730PPs, but it would require a $400 backsplash cut due to a height change for KA. We selected KMMS130RPS and had it installed. The unit had a significant flaw. Every time you turned it on, the fan would go to max, and it was LOUD. I checked all the manuals and could not find a solution. I then spoke with KD for about an hour, and we decided to dispatch a service call. The service call ended without a solution, and the unit was designed to do so. BAD DESIGN. I SENSE HAVE HAD IT RETURNED EVEN THOUGH IT'S COST ME $190 due to no refund for the install. In summary, I'm not sure why I would stay with KA or promote in the future. If anything, I hope you get this back to the designer and think twice about having it do high fan always.

The features are ok, there™€™s only one light under the microwave, which it dimly lit to cook by. Our other kitchenaid had two lights. Our prior microwave had a curved face that made it unique. This one looks like all the others out there.
