Coil burner slide in range, never knew it was rare

The range works fine. Not really happy with the knobs being on top of it rather than in front. The black and stainless is great but the black is very hard to keep clean. Smears wayyy too easily. My previous range was the same colors but had a stainless top. Much easier to keep nice looking. Had to go with the coil burners because I do a lot of canning. I hope the canners fit on the front burner with the control knob there. Paid almost double price for the coil burner vs the glasstop. Thought that was odd ..

Can't review it yet since I only have the use of 3 burners and I can't use the oven. How did it leave the factory in that condition? The oven door doesn't stay open. Certainly can't try to take something hot out of the oven without getting burned. Since you insist I rate the oven now I can only give it a 1. It needs to be repaired. It's brand new. Check your appliances before they leave the factory .

A GEM OF A RANGE--EXCELLENT FEATURES & FUNCTION

Pretty much, this is my DREAM stove. It's a slide-in, at counter level so does not block my beautiful tiled back splash. It is attractive as well, in a classically simple design that includes burner knobs that cannot be turned on by pets walking across the stove. The burners are also classic,. They're authentic plug-ins (not a glass smooth top surface), upon which i can safely cook in my cast iron pots. Each burner has a protective device that will save my ceramic teapots from burning up when the whistles stop working. This safety device does not prevent the burners from heating up very quickly and HOLDINg their heat. I can simmer and simmer for hours just fine. The oven is a thing of beauty, it's super close in size to my previous slightly larger one, but it is a very nice big size that accomodates multiple pans, pots and a very large turkey no problem. The oven preheats fairly quickly and shows the internal temperature progressively as it rises.And,this thermometer is ACCURATE. I bake bread and prepare all my own baked goods like desserts, in addition to meal prep from scratch. The oven gets a daily workout and its accuracy is a great help to good food outcomes! Cleaning this stove is a breeze. In my opinion Whirlpool self-cleaning ovens are fabulous. Minimum wipe down is necessary, but it is not a "scrub down" : the baked on stuff just melts away or into a wee film that acloth picks up when you wipe the interior. Also for for cleaning the range top i was wary that you cannot raise the top. But one does not need to. You just unplug the burner assembly, pull out it and the burner pan and clean EVERYTHING that you need. Best of all the interior is stainless or something readily cleaned and it keeps its polish well (as do the burners) when cleaned. I use virtually no processed food, and i have never owned a microwave. This range is used repeatedly, daily, off and on. And it does it all beautifully, for me.

A watched pot never boils

We needed a coil top stove for canning purposes, so we chose this range because it is one of the few remaining stoves available with coil heating elements. Unfortunately, this stove has "smart" coils that are supposed to turn off when the temperature gets too high. Well, we tried to boil water in a large Dutch oven pan on one of the 8" burners. The burner shut off before we could get a rolling boil going. We had a local tech (ordered by Whirlpool) come out to determine if anything was wrong, but everything seemed to be functioning as designed (he also couldn't get water to boil during the 20 minutes it was turned on high). He called Whirlpool to strategize with one of their techs and was told that we should just go out and buy regular, old-fashioned burners ourselves, but Whirlpool would not replace the "smart" burners with anything other than more "smart" burners. So we had to go buy new burners, out of pocket, elsewhere - just to boil water! We are not happy. The oven seems to work fine.

Good stove, dangerous drawer

After a failed stove right out of the box in late October the replacement stove arrived at Lowe™€™s in February . The logistics were terrible but part of the problem was that we live in a place which is unserviceable. It wasn™€™t till yesterday 3/23 that we were finally able to get the stove in place. Snow, mud, weather and help to get it in the house. Stove works fine an so much better than the fake induction stove we had previously. However the slide out drawer is dangerous. The pull handle is an indent in the stainless steel sheet metal. Very sharp! An accident waiting to happen. Built up rubber tape on sharp edge to protect ourselves. Note if we install a handle on drawer to protect ourselves it will cancel the warranty per warranty info.

Not as quick heating as our previous unit. Doesn't run as hot on the burners or the oven. Drawer doesn't hold as much on the bottom. It has worked and is better than not having it. Just not the quality of the 14 year old stove it replaced. There isn't an attached backslash offered by Whirlpool. Only wall mounted ones.

Being old fashioned in my tastes, I did not want a ceramic glass top preferring to have the coil burners. Was very happy to find Whirlpool still producing them. I have my new stove almost a month. Happy with the overall design. My one problem with the stove is the oven light. It is too dim to see what's going on with the food on the bottom shelf.

All in all it gets the job done, have had it two years. Purchased extended warranty, Downside: The stove top doesn't lift to clean so debris gets stuck where the top meets the control panel. The control knobs are plastic and if you don't consistently push them down to turn them they go from square to round and you have no idea what the settings are. We've replaced all 4 already at $23 a pop. The burners aren't level; have to support the pan handle to cook an egg. The sensors are annoying. With a recipe with raising and lowering temps, I have to turn the burner off then back on to get back to a high boil temperature.

Had this purchase to replace outdated stove that no longer get parts for. Hate with a passion the new coil burners over temp sensors in the middle. Have some pots not heavy enough. Will need to buy sensor less coils. This stove is deeper and will have to now modify the counter top. This is slide in and has no edge covers.

The bottom drawer is ™€œsprung™€ and does not fit squarely into the space. The drawer sits 3/8™€ lower on one side and sticks out 3/8™€ from the stove on the dropped side. If the dropped side is pushed up, the other side drops down and sticks out. Drawer is definitely not square.

Disappointed, Would not buy again

Because we like the coil-electric stoves and not the glass top ones, we bought this sight unseen. Our color choices were white or stainless steel. We chose stainless steel, only to realize upon delivery that the range is black, with some silver trim pieces. Very disappointing. The range itself works fine, but the knobs that control the burners are completely opposite of what you would normally expect. The off position is at 6 o'clock and you turn the knob counterclockwise to go from Low to High Temp. The stovetop is difficult to clean because there is a ridge all the way around it that makes it nearly impossible to remove and crumbs or debris from cooking.

We enjoy this stove/oven except one of the large coil burners had to be replaced, after about 18 mo moderate use - intermittently cut on/off when boiling water for pasta. Took forever. We initially swapped it with the one in the back that did the job fine so we ended up calling Whirlpool and they sent us a replacement coil. All is good now. The metal used on the center disk of the burner is poor quality and turns a burnt color with little use. Makes the stove look old. Not sure why they did that. The controls are now up front which is the right place to have them. The top black surface is shiny and collects water spots even with constant cleaning. The top surface should have been painted a matte finish so that water marks would be less visible. Not sure what the reasoning was behind this shiny surface. Bad idea. There is a digital readout that says, Countertop is Hot but does not tell you which burner was used or is "hot". It would have been really simple to put a small light next to each burner (and controller) to identify which burner is in use. There is a tiny painted-on graphic of which burner corresponds to which controller. Again, this is not very helpful once the burner is turned off and the stove top is hot. Lazy designers? We've been designing stoves for how many decades now and little has changed since the first electric stoves were made. You'd think that by now indicator lights would be common but not yet - this would add little to the cost too. Come on folks, design a functional alert system and show that you put some thought into this. Otherwise, the stove functions as expected.

Started a fire on two occasions which burned into the glass. Hard to clean, had to clean after every use or it looked awful. The location of the cook nobs at the front caused the fires. You accidently just bump and it turned on the burner. UGH! The Whirlpool was exactly what I wanted, even though some thought it was the newest type fashion. Sorry , I love it. It is easier to clean and safer!

I bought a year and two months ago, just past the warranty, the oven including the light doesn™€™t work at all. The front burner is willy nilly if it™€™s gonna heat enough to boil water, I bought this because of the location of the knobs , in front , cuz I don™€™t like reaching over when I™€™m cooking. And for the coils cuz I can a lot. Only thing I really liked about it is that when the front burner is working it does a great job maintaining the canner temp. Other than that as of today it™€™s over priced, difficult to keep clean on top, and I don™€™t really use oven often so I don™€™t know if the self clean works. I wouldn™€™t opt for this again. I may just get one half the price that has the knobs in the back and the same features.

Better than a glass top

Stove top is easier to keep clean than a glass top style stove. All the controls are easy to use. Knobs are on the front, no reaching over the hot burners. Oven is large. Self cleaning oven is a nice feature

This range as a whole is fine but the black top is hard to keep clean. The dinging/pinging of the burners is annoying. There should also be a light on the burner knobs to indicate whether the burner is on or off.

Good basic range

This is a good basic range. I purchased this one when my 24 year old range died on Thanksgiving morning b/c it was the ONLY electric range with coil heating elements available that is not a stand alone. It comes in several colors - I wanted black, but it wasn't readily available for several weeks and I needed to cook Christmas dinner. The stainless steel version looks great and I am happy with it. PROS: Ordered it on the Whirlpool site and it was cheaper than the big box stores. Delivery happened when it was scheduled (amazing!). Not a ton of "extras", but has the features I wanted - delay/timed bake. After some work on my granite counters and construction of a platform, my builder was able to slide this into the previous spot which held a "drop in" style range. CONS: The owners manual doesn't tell you how to operate the extra features. After digging around on the Whirlpool site, I found a document on the website called "Control Guide". If you scroll way down you find a place where "delay start" is explained and even then it's not very clear. I am still trying to figure this out and it's a bit irritating. The timer feature is good to have, but not very loud - you really have to be in the kitchen to hear it which makes it not very helpful. One of the reviews I read complained about the size of the burner knobs. This has not been an issue for me - all my pots and pans have fit well on the burners and the handles have not banged into the knobs. I am not sure what the reviewer was having trouble with. Overall I am pleased with the range even though it was the only option I had. Hoping it lasts as long as my previous one!
